GATE 2022
The GATE examination is an aptitude test for engineers of various disciplines and is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).
In the year 2022, the registration for the examination was conducted online on the 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th of February. Now that the results have been declared on 16th March 2022, qualified students can apply for the IOCL vacancies.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the ICOL recruitment through GATE 2022, candidates must qualify for the GATE 2022 examination. You must also be an Indian national to apply.

Interested candidates must qualify for GATE 2022 from the following disciplines mentioned in the table.

Qualifying in GATE 2022 from any other discipline than the ones mentioned above will not be considered eligible. Candidates applying for ICOL through GATE 2022 must also complete their BE/B.Tech in the same discipline in which they appeared in GATE 2022.
That means students of combined/integrated disciplines or inter-disciplinary subjects, like Mechatronics or Robotics, are not eligible to apply.
The BE/B. Tech degrees should be availed only from universities that UGC or AICTE recognises.
Now, candidates often appear and are qualified in more than one discipline in GATE 2022. In such cases, only the discipline in which they have completed the BE/B.Tech degree course would be considered eligible.
Qualifying Marks
Besides the discipline, you would also have to accumulate the minimum qualifying marks for applying to ICOL through GATE 2022.
The minimum qualifying mark in the degree examination (BE/B. Tech) should be as follows:

Candidates in their final year should also strive to obtain the minimum qualifying marks from at least seven previous semesters. They should calculate the aggregate marks of all the semesters to calculate this.
If you are awarded a letter grade, such as CGPA, GPI, and SGPA, then the equivalent percentage of the marks will be considered. This is obtained by using the conversion formula accepted by your university.
If shortlisted, you must also provide the conversion certificate from the relevant authority or university during the interview round.
Age limit
You also have to check the upper age limit and be within that limit to qualify for IOCL through GATE 2022. According to the official advertisement, the candidates should not be older than 26 years on 30th June 2022.
This is the criteria for students from general categories, and there will be age relaxation for OBC, SC, and ST categories.
The cut-off on the date of birth is as follows:

Please note:Only the Non-Creamy Layer of OBC category candidates will get concession, not the Creamy Layer.
The Selection Process for IOCL through GATE 2022
Candidates will not have to sit for any separate examination to qualify for the IOCL recruitment through GATE 2022.
Once they quality the GATE 2022 examination in their respective discipline, they will be deemed eligible.
Those candidates fulfilling all the criteria mentioned above will be shortlisted for the Group Discussion (GD), Group Task (GT), and Personal Interview (PI) sessions. The shortlisting will be done based on the marks they obtained in the GATE 2022.
However, simply qualifying for the GATE 2022 examination does not guarantee being shortlisted. You must also fulfil all the other criteria.
Afterwards, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of all the sessions combined.
How to Apply for IOCL through GATE 2022
- To apply for the IOCL through GATE 2022, you must register with a valid email ID and phone number (mobile) on the official portal.
- You can begin the application process once you get confirmation of the completion of registration.
- Then you need to provide details, like date of birth, your registration number of GATE 2022,the discipline, and the marks obtained.
- Once you fill in all the details, the information will be validated against the GATE database. Only after that can you proceed further with the application process.
- You must access the portal via a system that has a camera. The portal will capture your photo using your system camera.
- You can also submit your recent photograph (not captured earlier than January 2022).
- You need to read all the instructions very carefully while filling the entries. One of the best ways to do it is to verify at each step, as you cannot make changes later.
- Once completed, you need to download the application form in .pdf format and keep it with you for future reference.
- Do not send the application form to the Indian Oil office.
- You do not need to submit your caste/PwBD certificate during the application procedure. But you may have to provide the information on the online application.
Document Required for IOCL through GATE 2022 Registration
You will only need to provide valid documents once you are shortlisted for the GD, GT, and PI sessions. The documents should bear the same information as those mentioned in the online application. Failing this will instantly cancel your candidature.
Here are the following documents needed:
- Matriculation and Higher Secondary certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education for proof of age
- Conversion certificate from relevant university for students with letter grades
- A scanned copy of their recent colour photograph captured not earlier than January 2022
- A scanned copy of the signature of the candidate
- Relevant and valid proof of caste for SC/ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD candidates
