Strengths and Weaknesses of Online Learning

Online learning is becoming a trend with the emergence of covid-19. Schooling has been dramatically shifted towards an online learning system. No matter whatever skill you want to learn, you can learn it online by enrolling in relevant free as well as paid courses, for instance, google digital marketing course, content marketing course by HubSpot, graphic design course in Lahore, and so on. Undeniably, online learning has created unlimited paths for us but at the same time, such type of learning also has some cons.

Strengths and Weaknesses of Online Learning

Here I have come up with some strengths and weaknesses of online learning. Let’s get started.

· Flexible Schedule

One of the biggest advantages of online learning is its flexibility as you can take your virtual class anytime whether it’s evening or midnight. Regardless of the timing and place, you can earn a degree or take any course of your interest by studying online. Moreover, those who do their day job or even feed their family can get their dream college degree or a diploma regarding their field find online learning more convenient.

· More Accessibility

Through online learning, students can easily access their learning materials including recorded lectures, notes, textbooks, quizzes, and much more. Like if you have missed any class or want to revise some topics given by your instructor, you can freely get them at any time while sitting on your couch. Moreover, instructors also find it less difficult to teach students in a virtual classroom.

· Cost-Effective

No doubt that getting a college degree through the traditional learning system i.e. going to campus to take lectures demands more money as you have to bear the burden of transportation, residential charges, and so on. However, in online learning, all you have to pay is your tuition fee and some textbooks, if any. So it is safe to say that online education reduces your financial costs more than traditional education.

· More Exposure

In online learning, you do not only interact with the people that are based in your geographical area but worldwide. The more you connect with different types of cultures of people, the more you would get exposure. As there are no boundaries in online learning, it is possible for institutes to reach out to their target audience i.e. students from all over the world.

· Boost Analytical/ Critical Skills

Online learning enables students to think and analyze things critically which helps them to handle situations in their practical professional life. Online learning systems also help you to get used to the digital world and technical stuff. If you are interested in learning coding or programming or want to pursue a career in web development, you can join a web development course in Lahore.

· Create Sense Of Isolation

Online classes are usually taken while sitting at home so it ultimately creates a sense of isolation as you are not actually physically interacting with other students or instructors. However, to reduce this sense of isolation, several activities like video conferencing, online chats/ emails, etc. have been introduced.

· Technical Issues

One of the common issues during online classes is technical or internet issues. No doubt that during the past years, internet connection has become stronger but still in towns or small cities, students sometimes find internet issues that hinder their productivity in online learning.

· More Screen Time

In online classes, learners have to attend their classes in front of their laptops or smartphones screens which eventually leads to health issues like headaches, eyestrain, fatigue, anxiety, etc. Moreover, learning from an online source or ebook is less convenient than reading from a textbook (hard form) or notes.
